Hearts for the Month of March

March is a tough month for my family. On March 10, 2008 we lost an amazing soul and all of our hearts broke into a million pieces. It feels like its been forever since I last seen you but I know you are always with me. I have so many memories of us together.  Today and everyday we celebrate your life.
Grandma and Aunt Eleanor
My Grandma and Aunt Eleanor are two of my favorite ladies and I look up to both of them. I get my gaudiness from Aunt Eleanor. =)

My Grandma and Grandpa's marriage is one that I wish I have one day. They were married for 50 years before Grandma passed away.

Awkward 5th grade graduation picture
I want to say this is my last graduation picture that I have with my Grandma. I don't think there is one from 8th grade graduation. Since then I have graduated 3 more times and I have felt her presence every time. Plus Grandpa knows how to make a girl cry about talking about how proud he knows Grandma would be. I was just lucky to be able to tell her where I was going to college and she was so excited for me.

After she passed away all of us girls got to choose some jewelry. Since at the time I really didn't like gold I took the only silver necklace she had. It is a silver heart with dark pink stones. I always think of how much she loved us all. I wear it all the time.  I one day will also have her jewelry box that still sits on her dresser. I miss and love you every day! xoxox

Necklaces Change an Outfit

This past weekend I was getting ready to go out for a day of wondering around the mall. I picked out just a pair of jeans and a black plain T-shirt. I went to go find a necklace that I wanted to wear and thats were I came to a problem. I couldn't decide which one to wear. So I tried on a variety of necklaces/scarfs...

After trying on all of these it was hard to choose one to wear. Depending on the necklace it either dressed up or down my outfit.  Which one would you choose?

I chose this pink necklace. I just wanted a pop of color. I was thinking of spring when I chose this one. Hopefully spring will come soon!

How do you hang all of your necklaces?

I couldn't tell you how many times I have been asked "Where do you put all of your necklaces?" Well I keep it pretty simple. My necklaces don't have to add sparkle to just my outfits but they are also my bedrooms decorations!

Lets start with the first jewelry holder I made. I saw a pin on Pinterest to take an old spice rack to hold nail polish but I had the idea to have it hold my jewelry. So my Mom had this old spice rack. I spray painted it black and then I went and got scrapbooking paper and cut it to fit in each space. I then decoupaged the scrapbook paper in. I got c hooks and screwed those in the bottom. On the spice rack spaces I hold my gaudy rings and bracelets.

The 2 outer necklace holders I created all on my own. Everything I bought at Hobby Lobby. I went in the wood section and got the 2 plaques and 6 knobs. I spray painted the plaques and knobs, once everything was dry I twisted the knobs in and glued them to make sure they stay put. Done simple and easy.

The above necklace holder I actually bought about a year ago from The Container Store. I believe it is suppose to be a tie holder but perfect for all of my necklaces. My collection of necklaces grew and had to buy another one recently.

This necklace holder my Mom made for me. It was originally suppose to be a shadow box and screwed in c hooks and now it sits perfectly on my dresser.

Guady Bling

My friends got the idea in my head that I should create a blog about jewelry almost a year ago. At the time I was still in school and had a lot going on with work. So I decided once I finished my Masters that I would start one. So here it is. Gaudy Bling Obsessed! I have always love jewelry especially necklaces.  I mean look here are pictures from when I was younger to prove it.

And even today I love jewelry.

In this blog I will be sharing about all of my jewelry. How I travel with my jewelry, how I display my jewelry, my necklace challenge, where I buy my jewelry, and anything else that you want to hear about.  Please leave comments with what you want to hear about.

Also check out my Instagram (matravis14) where I post about my jewelry.
